Effects of drugs on liver histological morphology after CCl ₄ treatment. Normal rats (A) were administrsted by normal saline without induction by CCl₄. Other rats were pretreated with normal saline (B), bufothionine (9.77 mL/kg) (C), compound glycyrrhizin injection (D), cinobufacini injection (3.42 mL/kg) (E) for 8 days before 1.5 mL/kg CCl₄ was administered. Hepatic tissue was collected and subjected to hematoxylin and eosin staining. . In normal liver cells cell morphology was normal and the nucleoplasm was uniform (indicated by red arrow). After liver injury, hepatocytes exhibited necrosis and the nucleoplasm was severely contracted (indicated by yellow arrow).
