Relative levels of PKCα, TGF-β1 and α-SMA proteins were normalized to β-actin expression and determined by western blotting. Relative levels of PKCα, TGF-β1 and α-SMA mRNA were normalized to GAPDH expression and determined by reverse transcription-quantitative polymerase chain reaction analysis.
